But thanks be to God that you, having once been slaves of sin, have become obedient from the heart to the form of teaching to which you were entrusted, and that you, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness. (Romans 6:17-18)
There is much news to report, and over the next few days we will try to get it all out there to you. To begin, however, keep your eyes peeled for a good date to discuss the continued crafting of our Constitution. Ideally, we need to have it completed before the summer is over in order to gain NPO status from the Federal Government. The Pastoral Team will be getting together to hash out some particulars, but we need your help to finalize everything.
This week, Rev. Charlie de Kay will be presiding at the altar. He is the Curate at St James the Less in Northfield, IL. It is a pleasure to have him join us in this work.
Also, we have been in conversation with a couple of local congregations (United Church and St. Gertrude's) about renting space from them so that we can move from the chapel at the Community of the Holy Trinity. The chapel has been a wonderful haven for us, but another location would be more public, visible and allow for some growth in our numbers.
Last week, Jane preached about God's very intimate knowledge of us. The story of the children at the summer camp demonstrated God's generous presence to us, and God's ability to renew any moment and fill it with Grace.
Let us continue in prayer for one another as Grace abounds this summer. There are diocesan meetings, Baptist biennials and Covenant gatherings that will always benefit from prayer. There are many events this summer that involve members of our congregation: movies, plays, weddings...May God bless the work and hopes of all this summer.
May God help us all to have faith, to be bound to one another in common righteousness and hope for God's continued presence with us at Reconciler.
